I know for many people it just ...I agree very much. I know for many people it just means being "Southern and proud of it." But for many others it has an entirely different meaning. And because it is so offensive and hurtful to some, I believe the Biblical principle of not holding on to something we think we have a "right" to in order not to cause offense to others should prevail.<br /><br />In addition, I just learned this week that this is not the actual Confederate flag, and it was raised on the Statehouse grounds in opposition to the civil rights movement. That's all the more reason for it to come down from an official governmental spot.<br /><br />People still have the freedom to use it in their "I love the South" way. <br /><br />I've heard of some companies taking Civil War battle games and such offline and even saw something about wanting to ban Gone With the Wind. I think that's going way too far. It is a part of history, and we need to remember the depths to which mankind has fallen so hopefully we don't go that routeagain.Barbara H.http://barbarah.wordpress.comnoreply@blogger.com
