I almost thought about making a separate list for each genre. I've only read the last two you have listed, though I'm sure I've read parts of the first two. I love Dickens but GE id probably my least favorite of his.
GE is the only Dickens I've read. And I read it every year with the seniors in my class, so have been able to see some of the deeper layers of meaning that help to make a classic a classic.
Every summer I try to wade through A TALE OF TWO CITIES and never accomplish it. :-)
It took me several tries to get through that one, too, but once I did, it became a favorite, It's the only book I immediately reread after completing it the first time.
