Friday's Fave Five, 7/8/16

LINK to Friday's Fave Five host blog

1. Working on camera distance shots - Tuesday morning Mike and I got up early and went to a couple of our nature "haunts"--and I got to try out my new camera.  I probably need to work a little more on closer shots first, but these were taken with the 40x zoom at a couple of locations nearby.  The redheaded woodpecker shot is my favorite - and unfortunately could have been even better because there were TWO of them, just a couple of posts apart, but just keeping the camera steady to get a picture of one of them was difficult enough.

2. A family dinner.  Son and new wife, and my folks, were here for a summer supper Tuesday night.  Chicken on the grill and lots of fresh vegetables.  I love summer food.

3. A cool house on a hot day.  More important than it may seem!!  Our temps have been in the 90s all week and today are predicted to be close to 100.

4. Ebay.  I'm not a big seller, but just keep an eye out for textbooks that can be purchased mainly by homeschoolers.  It's a way to keep my personal Paypal built up for my own "fun money" and purchases.  I have a lot of textbooks - collected from various sources - but, surprisingly, they haven't been selling very well.  Usually new workbooks, that match various high school textbooks, sell like hotcakes, but it's been slow.  I surmised that maybe after the 4th of July holiday it would pick up, and it has.  Been selling about one set per day.  And the Paypal is building up!!

5. My sister, who has been job-searching for several months, got an offer this week that she is happy about and has accepted.  I am happy for her!!

I love summer food, too, and sharing a grilled supper with family is just the best. Casual and fun.

Congrats to your sister on her new job!

Hope you are enjoying the weekend, Ann!

Nice photos! I love summer meals, too. Amen about the cool house. Though I grew up without AC (I don't think we had central AC til I was a jr. in high school), I don't know how I would survive without it now. Or I might survive, but probably wouldn't be functional. :-)

I need to figure how how to make my Ebay and Paypal accounts work so I can sell things and receive funds. I have a few things I'd prefer to try to sell there rather than just give away, but just haven't gotten to it.

Great news for your sister.

Thanks for popping by my Friday's Fave Five. It's nice to read about your blessings too.

Your photographs are really good. I especially love the one of the deer. You really captured him beautifully.

You said son and his new wife. Does that mean you are a new mother-in-law? I just joined that club last October, when my daughter got married. It's new territory, but not difficult at all. I adore my son-in-law.

Congratulations to your sister on her new job. Looking for a job can be very discouraging. Several years ago (2003 to 2005), my husband was out of work for 25 months. It seemed like the right door would never open.

Anyhow, blessings to you,

Isn't it fun playing with a new camera. I really need to take some lessons for mine. I'm not really a play and learn type of person and prefer to be taught.

Good news for your sister! I love summer food too and enjoying with loved ones and friends is always the best.

Great news about your sister accepting that job! I love the heron photo--my favorite bird :)
About our east coast visit--according to my daughter, it's 'mid-Atlantic'.
