Rocking horses and angels

My sister Rhoda has given Andrew a rocking-horse ornament every year, and Mary Lee an angel. A few have broken or gotten messed up through the years (I remember finding one that a mouse enjoyed over the summer) but most survived intact.

Andrew's rocking horse collection

Mary Lee's angel collection. I think one or two from somewhere else may have gotten mixed in; she's had 19 Christmases and there are 21 ornaments here.

Wow, I had fun looking through these--almost as much fun as getting them each year. It's been a fun tradition for me. My only regret is that I've done a nutcracker ornament. In fact, with each child from Andrew on my original thought was to do a nutcracker and then at the last minute changed.

By the way, the rocking horse is the hardest ornament to find each year although this year it was the gingerbread man. I like to get them in the same style if possible and the craft show exhibitors with the wood cutouts didn't have a gingerbread pattern.

Also, I tried to put the name and year on every year so the angels without names and years probably aren't ones I gave ML.
